a5c7b9f00b After Keith, Lance, Pidge, Hunk, and Shiro are sent into space in a blue lion, they find two "alteans" by the names of Allura and Coran who have been frozen in crypto-pods for ten thousand years. They then discover that they must each pilot one of the robotic lions of Voltron, and defend the universe from an alien species called the "galra", and there evil emperor "Zarkon." Five teenagers become the last line of defense for the galaxy in an intergalactic battle against the evil alien force led by King Zarkon. Finally, an animation series that is worth binge-watching and being a die-hard fan for. The intellectual plot-line and the clean, but smart/ silly humor make this series very much remnant of the golden years of cartoon network (1995 to 2005). Remember swat cats, centurions, transformers prime and avatar the last air-bender? This series rightfully joins their rank and honestly, praise cannot go higher than that.

This is a must watch for all ages and for true-blue sci-fi animation fans who want a light-hearted, but heart warming and though provoking series to really get into.

Netflix have genuinely produced a master-piece with this one and I honestly can't wait for the new season to release.

Cheers. Voltron: Legendary Defender is a very good show that people of all ages can enjoy. It is not too violent and the jokes aren't cheesy or bland. They're not the best jokes I've seen in good cartoons, but at least they're not annoying jokes. The animation reminds me of the animation of Legend of Korra. It looks much more detailed than Voltron Defenders of the Universe, obviously. I also don't mind the fact that they made Lance, Hunk, and Princess Allura brown and they made the Black Paladin, Shiro, Japanese. I actually appreciate the diversity in this new version. In Defenders of the Universe, Allura was a very pale blond, but her new dark-skinned and white-haired doesn't look too bad. I don't see why some people don't like her new look. I think she's much stronger than DoTU Allura, who was always fainting and crying. Pidge being a girl named Katie Holt that was going undercovera boy to stay at Galaxy Garrison and help find her family wasn't a bad new addition to the show, either.

The way Voltron forms are much different from the way they'd form in DoTU. The villains are also very interesting. Zarkon and Haggar are both cool and the visual effects in Haggar's magic are great. The design of the villains looks so much better, especially Haggar's, who no longer a wrinkled old witch with boils, but instead looks like a young woman with blue skin and white hair. However, both lack some depth. I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get to see much of Sendak because he was (presumably) killed off, although it's not very likely he's dead because he was left inside a glass pod. The one thing I liked the least was the amount of development in the show. The only two protagonists that I found to be well-developed were Pidge, Shiro, and Allura to an extent. We know nothing of the backgrounds of the other Paladins. However, I expect the next season of the show to be better than the first one and to at least show some of the backgrounds of the other characters. I also hope they bring even more interesting villains in season 2 and maybe even bring more Alteans that were scattered on other worlds.
